Several highly respected specialists and educational experts told this bright, determined young lady's family that she would likely never learn to read. In the middle of third grade, a school administrator urged the family to seek help from Diana Finch. This video follows the child's remarkable progress through several lesson segments—from a pre-reading level comparable to that of a three year-old to reading at beginning first grade level, during just the first few months of the program. As a course member, you will learn the same instructional methods and practice them step-by-step with your own child.

Why the Dyslexia Rescue® Method Is Different

Most reading programs are designed to teach the child. The Dyslexia Rescue® Family Program is designed to teach both the child and the parent. If your family is like many of the families I've worked with, you've probably purchased books, curriculum guides, or boxed reading programs with every intention of helping your child. But for many families affected by dyslexia, ADHD, or other forms of neurodivergence, lengthy written manuals can be overwhelming. They often end up on a shelf—not because parents don't care, but because the format simply doesn't match the way many families learn best. That's why the Dyslexia Rescue® Method is taught through a Watch—Learn—Practice—Succeed approach. You and your child will watch four 45-minute lessons each week, preferably Monday through Thursday. As you watch, you'll both learn the same concepts and skills together. You'll also learn how to teach those skills with confidence. Pause the videos whenever you wish to practice together, then continue when you're ready. Each week, you'll reinforce what you've learned during two additional 45-minute practice sessions. This consistent cycle of Watch–Learn–Practice helps children build strong reading skills while helping parents become knowledgeable, confident helpers. Just as importantly, you're learning together. About the Course

Peek inside the world of a master teacher of Orton-Gillingham-based structured literacy and a bright, funny third grader whose severe dyslexia has left her unable to read even the simplest kindergarten-level texts.

The student's devoted parents has sought help from multiple highly reputable professionals. Despite years of intervention and testing, the parents were repeatedly told there was little more anyone could do and that their daughter would likely never become a successful reader. Having nearly lost hope, the family followed the recommendation of an administrator at their private school to seek the help of the private dyslexia specialist and reading interventionist locally known as The Dyslexia Whisperer—Diana Finch.

That decision changed everything.

Now, your family has the opportunity to experience this student's reading journey.

This course is designed for a parent and child to learn together. Four days each week (ideally Monday through Thursday), you will watch one lesson together, pausing the videos whenever you wish, to discuss or practice the concepts being taught. Then, over the weekend, you will practice what you've learned together twice more for 45 minutes, reinforcing the week's new skills through parent-lead guided practice.

The complete Children with Severe Reading Challenges Course is expected to span approximately 14-18 months. To encourage steady progress and ensure that each new concept is fully understood before introducing the next, your family will have access to one week of instruction at a time. We encourage you not to rush ahead, as each lesson builds upon the understanding developed in previous weeks.

Question 1: Is this program right for my child?

The student who you will see learning in our Helping Your Child Overcome Severe Reading Challenges — Dyslexia course is a bright, funny, engaging third-grade student. She is severely challenged with dyslexia, which is a language-based learning difference that does not diminish intelligence.

Dyslexia leaves her unable to read successfully at kindergarten level, despite having received multiple intervention services during the past several years. Like many people with dyslexia, she is stronger in logical reasoning, pattern recognition, spatial thinking and problem-solving than in memorization and rapid recall. So, we will make use of her strengths to overcome her challenges.

She often requires significantly extended cognitive processing time to formulate an accurate response. I call this "The Wait". If your child is of similar characteristics and is significantly behind average in literacy development (which begins in early preschool), this course will help. It will show you not only what to teach your child but, more importantly, how to teach it!

Tuition for this Watch—Do—Practice—Succeed course is $1 for the first month, and then a $200 monthly subscription (cancel anytime). The course is expected to span 14-18 months.

We were really struggling with teaching our daughter the basics of reading for years. She was very resistant to learn and seemed like no matter how hard we tried, she would flip her letters around and have trouble retaining what she learned. Diana Finch, M.Ed., M.Div. Founder of Dyslexia Rescue® and Developer of the Dyslexia Rescue® Method of Orton-Gillingham-Based Structured Literacy

Known as The Dyslexia Whisperer, Diana Finch understands the struggles of learning to read because she lived them herself. As a child with dyslexia, she experienced firsthand the frustration, discouragement, and self-doubt that so many children face today. Those experiences became the foundation of a lifelong mission: to ensure that children with dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning challenges receive the expert instruction, encouragement, and opportunities they deserve.

Diana earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Davis, followed by a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, an English as a Second Language credential, specialized training and certification in Orton-Gillingham and Reading Recovery, a Master of Education degree, and a Master of Ministerial Science degree.

Throughout her career, she has served as a classroom teacher, Title I Reading Specialist, elementary school principal, literacy specialist, curriculum director, county-level literacy specialist, literacy consortium director, and regional and federal-level leader in literacy development within the public school system.

In recognition of her innovative work and exceptional results, President George W. Bush appointed her to a federal education leadership position, making her the youngest federal-level school reformer in United States history at that time. Throughout her distinguished career, she has remained devoted to supporting children, families, schools, and educational systems while pursuing the mission that has always guided her work—to bring transformative change and meaningful educational outcomes for children with dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning challenges.

Following twelve years in private practice, Diana founded the Dyslexia Rescue® Program to share her unique Dyslexia Rescue® Method of Orton-Gillingham-Based Structured Literacy. With more than twenty-five years of experience working with children, she has dedicated her career to developing innovative instructional methods that help children build the skills, confidence, and independence they need to become successful readers.

Diana believes that virtually every child can learn to read when given the right instruction, delivered with expert guidance, patience, encouragement, and an unwavering belief in their potential. Through engaging teaching methods and a nurturing approach, she creates a positive learning environment where children—and parents—can grow in confidence and celebrate every milestone together.
